Job Description

We are currently seeking to employ Primary and Secondary (and/or SACE trained) School Teachers and Student Support Officers (SSO) of Modern Greek language for the upcoming school year. The school operates for 4 hours on Friday nights (5.00 pm - 9.00 pm) and Saturday mornings (9.00 am - 1.00 pm), according to the South Australian School Terms.


Terms of engagement

  • Paid positions for teacher at a $30/hour rate - maximum hours paid per week/classroom: 4 hours + supplementary hours for staff meetings

  • Paid positions for Student Support Officers at a $25/hour rate - maximum hours paid per week/classroom: 4 hours + supplementary hours for staff meetings

  • Payment arrangements - EFT Bank Transfer at the end of every month


General Responsibilities

The successful applicant/s will be an outstanding and preferably experienced Primary and/or Secondary School trained teachers or SSO’s who will be part of a creative and dynamic team. They will possess an exemplary understanding of best teaching practice and exhibit a deep commitment to understanding of student learning. They also will be able to teach students according to the educational needs and abilities. They will be reporting directly to the Head of School and will be responsible for the provision of quality educational experiences for our students.


The preferred candidates will be expected to:

  • Have an Australian/Greek/Cypriot Tertiary qualification in Education - Primary or Secondary School Teaching or meet ESASA teacher accreditation requirements.

  • Demonstrate expertise in teaching the Modern Greek Language.

  • Be able to plan curriculum and implement lesson plans that meet the requirements of the Australian Curriculum Languages (as published by ACARA).

  • Be able to assess, record and report on the development, progress, attainment and behaviour of students.

  • Support and implement the vision of our school.

  • Implement and uphold best teaching and learning strategies in line with the school's pedagogical framework.

  • Engage in further professional development as part of continual learning.

  • Abide by and comply with Child Safe Environments and ESASA policies (see all policies on https://www.esasa.asn.au/school-information/policies-for-ethnic-schools/)

  • Always conduct themselves in a professional and ethical manner and fulfil roles as required to comply with duty of care obligations.

  • Participate and support extra-curricular activities organised by the Greek School and/or external bodies.

  • Copy of your current Child Safe Environments Training (Identifying & Responding to Child Abuse & Neglect) - undertaken within the past 5 years or be obtained prior to appointment.

  • Copy of your First Aid Training (BELS for teachers- Basic Emergency Life Support) or be obtained prior to appointment.
